This type of free, after-school, supplemental reading instruction for our Kindergarten and 1st Grade students is very important, especially for families at Title 1 schools and for our English-language learners.

Star Readers has really helped my daughter.

Star Readers Team
Sharon O’Neal
Program Director
“Every day that I see a child’s eyes light up when they first realize they can read makes me smile. Teaching a child to read is an empowering gift. It gives them wings to sail to greater heights in life, and it’s my greatest passion.”
Sharon started Star Readers because she’s passionate about helping young children — our most vulnerable citizens — get a strong foundation in reading. She was a reading intervention paraeducator at Saratoga Elementary for 8 years and a trained Orton-Gillingham reading specialist and reading tutor for over 15 years. After a long career in business, Sharon now devotes all her time to her driving enthusiasm for giving children the gift of reading.
